Enjoy the Spa at Home with These DIY Beauty Treatments

Sometimes a good at-home spa day is just what the doctor has ordered. Whether you're needing a skin care pick-me-up after the holiday rush or simply want to give your skin a little extra boost to keep it looking fresh, a DIY pamper session is always a good way to get a healthy, natural glow. With the help of a few simple at-home remedies, it is easy to get a little "me" time with products that can be used right out of your pantry!

Raw Honey

We suggest investing in raw local honey that is unpasteurized or unfiltered to help aid in your at-home skin care routine. Raw honey is so beneficial to the skin that, according to recent studies, it was used as an ancient remedy for healing infected wounds. With natural antimicrobial activity that helps the body fight off bacteria, plus helpful enzymes and antioxidants that lock in moisture, your skin will look and feel better after each use.

To use: Simply work a thick layer of raw honey over clean, dry skin. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes as an extra moisturizing step to your morning or evening routine. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Tea Bags

If you have had a few late nights recently, tea bags offer a quick and easy way to freshen up the sensitive skin around your eye area. Due to the tannin and caffeine found in most tea varieties, you can quickly help reduce under eye puffiness and the appearance of dark under eye circles with the help of a few well-placed tea bags. Green tea works best to help shrink blood vessels, reduce swelling and tighten sensitive skin around the eyes.

To use: Take cool, damp tea bags and place them over closed eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes. As an extra handy tip, refrigerate brewed tea bags overnight and use them in the morning for a quick pick-me-up!

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is one of those magical products that is just as good for your body on the inside as it is for your skin on the outside. For many people, the idea of using oil on your skin may sound strange, but olive oil is actually non-comedogenic, meaning it doesn't clog your pores. Extra-virgin olive oil also contains healthy antioxidants, such as vitamin E and A, which help to repair skin and moisturize.

To use: Apply a small amount of good-quality extra-virgin olive oil to fingertips or a cotton ball and gently smooth over eyes and face to remove makeup. Rinse with warm water and pat skin dry.
