Plan Laser Hair Removal Now for Smooth Summer Skin

Plan Laser Hair Removal Now for Smooth Summer Skin

Summer might seem far away, but it will be here before you know it. If you’re hoping to get rid of unwanted hair and have smooth skin for swimsuit season, the end of winter is an ideal time to start planning for laser hair removal.

Treatment Timeframe

Having unwanted hair removed with laser treatments can take time. While the results from these treatments can last up to 18 months, it can take multiple sessions to completely get rid of unwanted hair. Lasers are able to prevent hair follicles from growing by damaging them with high-energy particles of light. The more areas of unwanted hair you have, the more sessions you’ll need in order to see results from this type of treatment. If you wait until summer has already started, you run the risk of having to deal with unwanted hair throughout the season. When you schedule winter treatment sessions, you might only need minor touch-ups in spring or summer.

Skin Protection

When you have laser hair removal done, your skin becomes more prone to sun damage for a number of weeks as new, healthy cells grow. Having this treatment done in winter means you don’t have to worry as much about taking extra precautions to protect your skin from the sun. Your skin will have plenty of time to recover before summer starts. Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t go tanning after undergoing this procedure. Tanning can damage the areas that have been treated. If you have this type of laser treatment done in summer, you need to be even more vigilant about keeping your skin safe from the sun’s rays in order to prevent sunburn and other skin damage.

Having laser hair removal done during winter can also lead to improved effectiveness for this type of treatment.

Greater Effectiveness

Having laser hair removal done during winter can also lead to improved effectiveness for this type of treatment. You’re less likely to wax or pluck hairs during the colder months of the year, which leaves more of your hair follicles intact. This allows the lasers to work better and cause enough damage to them to stop them from growing. During the winter months, your skin is also lighter, especially if you tend to tan during the summer months. Keep in mind that lasers work more effectively on lighter skin pigmentations and darker hair. This contrast helps lasers target hair roots. If you have darker skin or if you have lighter hair, laser removal might not work as well.
